HELP WANTED

This is a place for members of Team Coast Guard to post Fifth Northern Region "Help Wanted" ads.  It is not a place to ask for information or to post questions. Your ad will be seen by Auxiliarists throughout the Fifth Northern Region. The ads will be posted on the page from newest to oldest. Commercial ads are prohibited.

Quarterdeck Watchstanding opportunities are available at the local Coast Guard Recruiting Office. The office is located just outside the Franklin Mills Mall in Northeast Philadelphia, located just 1 mile from I-95 (Exit 35) and less than 4 miles from I-276 (Exit 351). Permanent volunteers for regular scheduling, and back-up volunteers to cover sick days, vacation, etc. are needed. The office address is 183 Franklin Mills Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA  19154. It is located outside the main mall with dozens of stores and restaurants within walking distance.

REQUIREMENTS:   Proper telephone etiquette, good speaking voice, a neat appearance, friendly personality.

REGULAR DUTIES:

Ø       Greet walk-in applicants and have them fill out a questionnaire

Ø       Answer telephone calls, check the voice mail, log and pass along messages to the recruiters

Ø       Ensure that literature racks are full and application forms are readily available

Ø       Prepare mailings requested by callers or recruiters

Ø       Keep the quarterdeck area neat and presentable

Ø       Uniform of the Day: Tropical Blue – Long, or ODU, unless directed otherwise by the Recruiter-In-Charge.

PLEASE NOTE:   This is not a recruiting job per se, but a supporting assignment to regular Coast Guard recruiters. Only the recruiters are permitted to discuss recruiting details with inquirers.

PERKS:

Ø      Meet and work with Coast Guard personnel from across the nation, including Coast Guard Recruiting Command, Washington, DC; Atlantic City; Harrisburg, Philadelphia, etc.

Ø       Participation in area recruiting events (high school or college days, career days, open houses, air shows, and other events)

Ø       Participate in various MWR activities…and free promotional materials

Ø       Mess deck with microwave, coffee maker, sink, and refrigerator.

STAFF & TERRITORY:   There are seven recruiters, with an average of three being in the office at any point in time. The Philadelphia office territory includes the following neighboring counties:

            DELAWARE________All

            MARYLAND________Cecil

            NEW JERSEY ______Most mid-to-southern counties

            PENNSYLVANIA       Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery,

                                            Philadelphia.

DAYS & HOURS:   You can select the day(s) and the hours you wish to stand watch. You need not volunteer for an entire day. Office hours are 0900 to 1700, Monday thru Friday, closed for federal holidays.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Any member wishing to participate should contact the recruiting office AUXULO, Dan Murphy, at Flotillatensix@aol.com. You must include the following in your first e-mail:

Ø       Your name, EMPL #, Division, and Flotilla

Ø       A telephone number and time where you can be reached during the day

Ø       Your e-mail address

Ø       The day(s) and hours for each day you wish to volunteer

Ø       Your current or previous occupation

The application process will include:

Ø       A telephone interview with AUXULO Murphy

Ø       A personal interview with AUXULO Murphy at the recruiting office*

Ø       A personal interview with the Recruiter-In-Charge at the recruiting office*
